We all seem to have things we want to accomplish in our lives, places we dream of visiting, goals we want to reach, and even people we want to meet. Some of us create bucket lists with hopes of someday being able to do all the things we want to do. I myself have had a “Bucket List” for a few years now.Over the last two years I have been adding all these cool things I want to do and places I want to visit but I realized last week somewhere in the last 2 years I failed to do the most important thing. I have failed to experience the things I have taken so much pride in writing down.

I think we all get to a point in our lives (several times throughout our lives) that we know it is time to quit talking about what we want to do and just do them.

Regardless of the steps that it might take to achieve our goals or experience our dreams …we are not going to be able to do so unless we move to the next level and that is taking action. We often learn the only thing holding us back from what we want is the person we call ME.

One of the things I have always wanted to do is learn Spanish. I am full blooded Puerto Rican but was not raised in a Hispanic household. The older I get the more important it becomes to me to know where I come from and to learn about my heritage. So in saying this I was up one night thinking about a trip I will be taking over the holidays to visit my Brother, Sister and Mother, who all speak fluent Spanish. At that moment, I decided to finally put action with my words. I decided it was time, that I quit letting ME hold me back.

I reached out to Grace Resendez McCaffery. Grace is a strong voice in the Latino community where I live, and I asked Grace if she could help me find someone to teach me Spanish. Grace found someone instantly and I am excited and proud to say that starting on Thursday of this week I will start taking my first series of Spanish lessons. Thank you, Grace!

Life is short and time passes us quickly. You know all those things you have been saying you want to do? DO THEM!

It is never too late to live your dreams, no matter how big or how small they may be. Take those steps to achieve the things you have always wanted to do. It doesn’t matter how long it takes to get there. It is your journey and YOUR time. As my friend Josh Hinds says,” all that matters is that you get there.”

“Never Give Up On Your Dreams”!
