Driving To a new me

Looking back through my journey I am so glad I decided to enroll in a Think and Grow Rich class. I learned several  things by taking this class  but the one thing that really stuck with me in my learning process was learning how to reprogram your thought process…..I began to study the learning methods of how to overcome fear and recognize the feeling of something great to come… The best example that was given to me, to help me become aware, was to THINK, back to anything I had ever done that was exciting and thrilling.

Some examples you can identify with are:

  • Asking your future spouse on the first date
  • Writing that terrifying large check for the down payment of your first home
  • Stepping off a chairlift at the top of a ski slope…

That is the adrenaline rush that tells you that you are up to something great! When you have achieved a new level of success or accomplished one of your goals.. REMEMBER and THINK of these feelings because it is the same thing!

Some of you know I was married for 14 years and got divorced in 2004. I married very young. To me it was like I woke up one day and was thrown into the single world. I had to do things I had never done before; I had to make choices all by myself, not only for me but for my daughter. I no longer had a partner to share in my decision making.

In the first month of being single I was offered a job in New Orleans and had a chance to visit a friend who lived there. I was 34 years old. I had never driven by myself long distance. I had an opportunity and it was three hours away from where I lived. As I share this with you I remember that feeling of having to decide if I was going to step outside my comfort zone.

I can remember how scared I was driving to New Orleans. Now that I have driven that drive about 100 times since then I also can remember how excited I was for the thought of what could be and because I chose the adrenaline rush the drive now feels like such a normal thing to do… The 33 year old Michelle would have waited for her husband to drive with her or turned down a job opportunity because it was too far. The 43 year old Michelle looks back and says I am glad I over came that fear and was able to make choices that were based on my own belief system and circumstances.

My message to all of you today is don’t let fear keep you from doing something that you have always wanted to do. Seek the things in yourself that are holding you back from YOUR DREAMS. Once you identify them ask yourself what steps can you take that will get you one step closer to YOUR Dreams. Whatever your dreams may be, KNOW they are just steps away, and they can be achieved one step at a time. “Never Give Up On Your Dreams”! Dreams are where GREATNESS is created!

Blessings to everyone!
